What do you REALLY want from SEO?
Let's ask an important question, why are you really here? When you typed "seo expert" into that search box, what else could you have typed in instead? Could it have been "help me make money", "kick start my web site" or even "help, I need something I can't do"? We could invent many more similar phrases, but I think you get the idea.
You've probably read a fair bit of material already about seo expertise - keywords, link popularity, page rank, meta tags, content, blogs, frequency, prominence...this list could reach the bottom of the page and all you'd probably feel more pressure than you feel now.
This is going to be a more complex journey than might have imagined
But if you understood the whole list, do you also understand "conversion", "value", "persuasion", "ROI" and "loyalty" - because if you don't your undoubtedly on a one way journey to spending money you'll never see again. Whether it's your money, or the company's - no one is going to thank you for that (I assure you).
Perhaps a seo expert can get you high on Google's rankings. What then? Will your seo expert sell your products or services? Will getting to the top mean that there won't be any further expense for that problem? Will there be other entrepreneurs after your ranking? To even get that far you're going to have to trust your seo expert (whether it's us, somebody else or yourself - it amounts to the same problem).
Buyer beware!
In case you didn't know this, the internet is full of unscrupulous people waiting to prey on people filled with hope who want to hire a seo expert. So how do you tell who you can trust without losing any money? That's the problem I am grappling with right now as I write this copy. How do you know our small team is worth a risk?
A solution for those really wanting to go places
I'll propose a way forward for both of us, the risk will be spread equally between you as client and us as consultants - that is an intelligent, fair way forward and if you aren't interested then it'll save us both some time! But...honesty isn't really the professional way forward, is it? We should try to blag you with great copy and big promises - you then take a risk employing us - heard this before?
How about this as an alternative?
- You tell us where you are in Google
- We check that's true
- We propose what we will try and achieve for £200.00
- You consider that, and if you agree you pay us £100.00 to do the work
- If we reach our proposal, you pay the balance
- If we don't reach the proposal but do achieve a significant improvement - we call it quits
- If we don't achieve anything much, we reimburse you the £100.00
- Both parties are free to write up the experience on blogs or forums (not least about the honesty of the other party)
And if you really can't afford the £100.00? Well to be honest, you probably aren't going to make good clients for a seo expert - inconveniently we do need to eat! While we need clients who can afford our skills, we can still help you by writing "how to guides" on this site - our ideal client won't want to do it themselves as they are basically too busy making their business work. At least you can link to us in return!
